چکیده

Pelagophytes are abundant picophytoplankton within open ocean ecosystems and the causative algae of harmful brown tide blooms in estuaries. The physiological capabilities facilitating ecological success pelagophytes these diverse remains poorly understood. Here, we investigated transcriptional response two coastal ( Aureococcus anophagefferens Aureoumbra lagunensis ) Pelagococcus subviridis Pelagomonas calceolata to conditions commonly found marine where they thrive: low concentrations nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), or light. OrthoMCL was used generate a total 62,653 orthologous groups (OGs) with only small fraction OGs (2,776 4.4%) being shared among all four pelagophytes. Of OGs, 8% were significantly differentially under N, P, light majority associated energy lipid metabolism. Distinct responses included increased abundance transcripts encoding phosphate transporters pyrophosphatase expression suite organic nitrogen-degrading enzymes N ), flavodoxins relative ferredoxins lysophospholipase light, both increases decreases selenoproteins except . Collectively, this study provides new information on expressed gene compliment characterized taxa demonstrates that possess combination unique features likely facilitate their adaptation distinct environmental conditions.

Assessment of Root Growth and Physiological Responses of Four Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Cultivars to Salinity Stress

Enlarged root systems that extend into the salt affected soil improve water and nutrient capture by plants and can increase plant productivity. In order to examine root system characteristics of four bread wheat cultivars contrasting in salt tolerance (Arg, Ofoq, Tajan and Morvarid) a greenhouse experiment was conducted with applying two salinity levels (0 and 150 mM NaCl) on plants grown in PV...

Physio-biochemical and Enzymatic Responses of Sunflower to Drought Stress

Drought stress is a serious adverse factor that limits sunflower growth and productivity. The stress induces a range of physiological and biochemical responses in sunflower. So, evaluation of defense systems is important for producing resistant cultivars. In this study, physio-biochemical changes and antioxidant enzymes activitiesof six sunflower lines were evaluated under normal and irrigation...

Acid and base stress and transcriptomic responses in Bacillus subtilis.

Acid and base environmental stress responses were investigated in Bacillus subtilis. B. subtilis AG174 cultures in buffered potassium-modified Luria broth were switched from pH 8.5 to pH 6.0 and recovered growth rapidly, whereas cultures switched from pH 6.0 to pH 8.5 showed a long lag time. Log-phase cultures at pH 6.0 survived 60 to 100% at pH 4.5, whereas cells grown at pH 7.0 survived <15%....
